Introductions

Hey everyone -

I see you got the memo. Thanks for coming by to check out my very first blog. Maybe my very last - we'll see how it goes....

Why the blog? I don't know. Perhaps it's because it's 2:30 AM at the moment, an hour when every ridiculous impulse seems sane. Or maybe it's because I am desperate to share the inane thoughts and opinions constantly running through my mind... even if "my mind" is exactly where they should stay.

Regardless, it'll be fun while it lasts. I welcome your comments to my posts, especially those that disagree with me when I'm being... oh, slightly political. Or controversial in general. KEEPING IN MIND, of course, that my dear Irish-Catholic mum - a woman I am quite sure has never uttered profanity - will be reading this blog as well. Actually, she can take quite a lot. But, you know, let's not go overboard on the R-ratings. For mommy's sake.

Welcome, everyone ~
Patti

  3. Hi Cath! How fun to hear from you. And how cool this is your first time going on a blog. I feel very privileged.

Hope all is well up in Westlake Village. :)

  5. Hi Patti,
It's Brenda! Like Cathy, I'm a novice to blogs and, (and I kid you not) I was telling Frank this very day, that I wanted to learn more about them and maybe jot down some thoughts of my own. Thank goodness I'm off the hook for now, as with your insight and skill with turning a phrase, I'd much rather read YOUR thoughts than my own! Besides which, I have been wondering how the heck you're doing.
    Can't wait to hear more.

  6. Hi Patsy (It's OK to call Patsy, right?)-
It's your long lost neighbor, CCD classmate and high school chum, Brian. Welcome to the 21st Century with your new blog. It's a little "pink" and needs a splash of something else. I hope it is not affiliated with the SBK Foundation; you know they support Planned Parenthood? Oooops! The first controversy. Leave it to me to upset the apple cart. I look forward to your future posts.

    Cheers!

  7. Yes, Brian, Patsy is fine. And I love controversy - bring it on, baby!

Ok, this site is actually rose, not pink. And only because all the other choices were boring.

And the SBK Foundation? You'll have to enlighten me.

Thanks for posting - it's great to hear from you!

  8. Hey Brenda - Great hearing from you. I thought of you and Frank when I heard Celine Dion's show closed in Vegas. I'll never forget how Frank was able to get me and my daughters backstage to meet Celine in her greenroom. And allowed my friends and their daughters to tag along. I thought he was leading us through a back entrance to our house seats. What a fantastic surprise that was. I remember he told me she usually only met with dignitaries, terminally ill children, etc. So that made it an even more amazing treat for us. What's he doing, now that the show had closed?

    Great hearing from you, Brenda!

  10. Hey Adrienne -

How are you? Taking any online writing courses these days?

    Nice hearing from you.

  11. PS Adrienne - your humor essay on the steps you take while preparing to write the great American novel... still makes me laugh when I think of it. :)

  12. Patsy -

FYI, SBK Foundation is the Susan G. Komen Foundation. I occasionally mix my B's and G's so that's probably why you did not recognize it. Nevertheless, my good buddy Judie Brown says they are on the same page with Planned Parenthood. If you don't believe me check it out for yourself....... http://www.all.org/newsroom_judieblog.php?id=2024

  13. Wow Patty,

This is great! i have never posted a comment on a blog, and I always LOVE to hear what you have to say. You have such a way with words. You were very quiet during the election.

  14. Hey Janet -

I was pretty quiet, wasn't I? Well, my guy didn't win the election, so what was there to say? My guy didn't even with the primary... :) But the country seems hopeful, more so than I've seen them in a long time, And it is cool to witness history being made with the first African-American pres. I would have much preferred to have seen Colin Powell as the first African-American pres - he's far more experienced, more knowledgeable on world affairs, and better well-known. We know what he stands for - very little mystery on how he would vote on issues. But Obama seems more willing than I gave him credit for to move towards center, wisely realizing half this country has conservative ideals. Quite honestly, I'm pretty hopeful at this time as well.

  15. Please advise on where you get your energy. I'm thinking maybe you have a 36 hour day or you hold stock in energy drinks. Amazing !!

Seriously, I enjoy reading what you have to say and look forward to more.

  16. Hi Patti,

What a great idea! I'm new at blogging...this is my first time. Don't worry I'm not afraid to share my opinion no matter how unpopular. Hope all is well with you and all those kids.

  17. Christopher Hamel -

So very nice to hear from you, sir. It has been a long time. How's the east coast? Little more wintry than usual, I hear. Matt, my oldest, is a freshman at Loyola Chicago, and always wanted to experience true seasons. Careful what you wish for, I guess.

And no, I have no stock in energy drinks. Nor do I drink them. It's a McCoy thing, Chris - none of us sleep. And I'm not bragging about that, either. It's freaky. And bad for your health. But I am getting a jump on my spring cleaning... :)

  18. Shelley, it's great to have you. You know, after establishing this blog, I found out that none of my family - and that would be about five dozen or so people - have ever blogged. I never did until about a year and a half ago when I joined this crime fiction blog. The only other blog I ever read on a sort of consistent basis just shut down. So I'm almost as novice as you.

And I know you're not afraid to share your opinion. And sorry I missed book club the other night - Kelly was in the middle of finals and needed some help on writing a final essay for her Literature class. I swear I will be at the next one. In fact, my article in the Star this Thurs will list some of your personal top choices for 2008. Yea.

  19. Patti, Funny that you'd mention the Celine thing, as I think of you whenever I send a "little thank you" to someone. You might not remember, but you were the one who introduced us to "Wine Country Gifts" with that "little" thank you basket (Little?? NOT!) Anyway, Frank was glad to help. How are the dancers doing?

As to what he's doing post-Celine: he stayed with the promoter (AEG-Live/Concerts West) and wears two hats - as the Dir. of Operations at the Colosseum and as the Regional I.T. mgr. (They have other projects in town). He still has ties to her, but he only works as needed when they're in town (or headed here) so it's hardly ever these days. Hmmm speaking of, we still haven't seen her on the current tour, and it'll be over soon - cripe, has it been year already??

    How are you all doing?
I knew about the Gorman Foundation. I am impressed Brian, a lot of people don't know about this.
